Travis Maslen has been teaching at Christian Brothers High School since 2004. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music from CSU Sacramento, and is currently finishing his Masters degree in music composition/theory. He teaches five courses at CB which consist of Beginning Band, Concert Band, Honors Band, String Orchestra and Jazz Band. In addition to those five classes he also runs the CB Drumline, Pep Band and Pit Orchestra for school musicals.

His memberships have included The Sacramento Master Singers, California Band Directors Association, RSVP Vocal Ensemble, The Sacramento Symphonic Band, The CSUS Clarinet Choir, The National Association for Music Education (MENC), American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGER) and participates in lower brass festivals throughout the year. He has also placed fifteenth in the SPEBSQSA International Quartet Competition and has done back-up vocals for Sara Brightman. His students have been accepted to Capitol Section Honors Band and Orchestras, All State Honors Band and Orchestra, GEMF Solo competitions and two of his students were ranked number one in the nation by the MENC Nation Honors Band.

Ronald Slabbinck holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from Western Michigan University and a Masters of Music in Conducting from CSU Sacramento, where he was also nomicated and inducted into Pi Kappa Lamda.

Before teaching, Mr. Slabbinck performed professionally as a singer for Walt Disney World, Carnival Cruise Lines, and various theme parks throughout the United States. he has been a tenor soloist for the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, and can be heard on various studio recordings. During his ten years as a teacher he has been a clinician for choral festivals in eight states and is a regular clinician for "Showchoir Camps of America." Most recently, he and his wife authored a music theory workbook entitled "One Minute Theory for the Choral Music Classroom," available through KJOS Publishing.

Holly Slabbinck holds a Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University, and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida.

Prior to teaching, Holly was a professional singer. her experiences range from singing in the "Voices of Liberty" at Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida to Carnival Cruise lines as well as various theme parks throughout the United States. Her voice can also be heard on numerous studio recordings, including those of her father, Dr. Kirby Shaw. Most recently she and her husband authored a music theory workbook entitled, "One Minute Theory for the Choral Music Classroom", available through KJOS Publishing.

Kevin McGovern received his Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from CSU Sacramento. He has been an instructor at Christian Brothers since 1981.

Mr. McGovern is an accomplished painter whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited at CSU Sacramento, the Artists Contemporary Gallery, the Art Foundry Gallery and the Crocker Art Museum. His writings on art have been published in the Art of California Magazine and the Sacramento Bee. Mr. McGovern has been a guest lecturer at St. Mary's College in Moraga and has been honored for a significant achievement in his profession by the CSU Sacramento Alumni Association.

Findlay McIntosh received his Bachelor of Arts in History from UC Davis and a Masters in Religious Studies from CSU Sacramento. Mr. McIntosh began his career at Christian Brothers teaching Religion. As the art program expanded Mr. McIntosh made the switch from Religion to Art.

Mr. McIntosh studied drawing under Wayne Thiebaud. He teaches bronze casting at the UC Davis Craft Center and has taught Art History at the California Academy of Art and Design in Sacramento. He has been in numerous shows in Sacramento, and is closely associated with the 20th Street Art Gallery in Mid-town Sacramento where he chairs the annual High School Self-Portrait Show. He is currently showing his latest bronze work cast at the Art Foundry in Sacramento.

Rob Boriskin received his Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Cruz with a Major in History and a Minor in Art. Mr. Boriskin stated 'throwing pots' - creating ceramic pieces using a potter's wheel while in college. During a thirty-year career with the State of California, Mr. Boriskin also did production work for a ceramics factory in Los Angeles and taught ceramics at the UC Davis Craft Center.

Rob Retired from state service in April of 2006. His work with the State Resources Agency has influenced his environmentally conscious teaching style in which students are encouraged to recycle clay and limit what they allow to wash down the drains. Two of Rob's children are CB alumni, one of who studied ceramics under Mr. Kevin Haag, the former Director of the Visual and Performing Arts.

Brendan Hogan is a 1995 graduate of Christian Brothers. He attended San Diego State University and majored in Communications with an emphasis in New Media Studies. His studies were in television film and new media technologies.

In college Mr. Hogan became involved in media literacy projects (enabling people to analyze media and its messages). It was this involvement that called him to teaching. In 2004 Brendan began teaching as a substitute for Sacramento City Unified School District and later for Christian Brothers. In 2005-06 he became the KBFT program director during which KBFT was awarded the #1 high school daily news show in the nation.

Stephanie Roybal is a graduate of Saint Mary's College of California, majoring in History with an emphasis on American, Latin American and modern Chinese studies. She has been a member of the social studies department at Christian Brother High School since 2006.

Ms. Roybal has been running sound systems for live events since her junior year in high school. As co-moderator of the Open Mic Night program, she helps foster student interest in presenting and performing live entertainment for the CB community. She also serves as the sound coordinator for CBHS.

Sean O'Brien, an English teacher of twenty-six years, did his undergraduate work in theatrical direction at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut and went on to obtain a Masters in Political Science from the New School for Social Research in New York City.

Starting as an actor in a touring troupe at the age of sixteen, Mr. O'Brien has since worked in community, educational and professional theaters in New York, Virginia, Georgia, Montana and California. He has taught here at Christian Brothers for eight years.

Natalia Chiapa has a long history with Christian Brothers. She spent 4 years at CB from 1996-2000 and was heavily involved with the Performing Arts Department in theatre and choir. Ms. Chiapa graduated from Saint Mary's College with a major in Business Administration and a minor in English in 2004 and got her Educational Credential in 2006 also from Saint Mary's College.

She spent a year living in the San Miguel Brother's Community in Tucson, Arizona and working at San Miguel High School. She has been a member of the CB community since 2005 and teaches in the English Department, typically Sophomores and Juniors. She has co-moderated Open Mic with Ms. Roybal since 2006 and has had a fantastic time encouraging CB students to show their different talents. Ms. Chiapa also moderated the Hip Hop Dance Club and the Literary Arts Journal.

Sarah Mungas provides dance instruction and choreography for the Theater Department's musical productions.

She has been dancing for over 20 years in styles such as ballet, jazz, and modern dance. She spent four years as a member of a competitive dance team in San Jose, California, where she won numerous team and individual awards. Ms. Mungas has been involved in musical theater since 2000.
