Are You a Friend of the Arts?
Friends of the Arts is a volunteer organization that gives parents and others an opportunity to support the visual and performing arts at Christian Brothers. Members serve as volunteers for events, as benefactors for the programs, and provide assistance with the promotion of events at school and in the community. Monthly meetings are open to all.
Here are just a few of the ways the Friends of the Arts, or FOTA, help support the VPA Students:
- We assist at various public functions such as Freshman Lock-in and Open House to help inform and promote the many activities in the Visual and Performing Arts department
- We staff snack bar and ticket sales at the CB Theatre productions, the Annual Jazz Dessert and at four "Open Mic" nights as well as assist at many choir performances
- We hosted the first ever VPA College Night to help your kids envision where their arts expertise can take them!
- We recently purchased an electronic Marquee to advertise our different VPA events
- We awarded four $200.00 scholarships to rising seniors to participate in various art programs
- We assist each department with "wish list" items. Some of these include:
- Microphones for Open Mic
- Funds for KBFT to help defray competition costs
- A "Master Class" for the Jazz band at their Disneyland competition
- Theatre equipment
- A new kiln for the ceramics dept
- We help with promotional materials for the Theatre and Art Department
- We helped host the 19th Annual Jazz Dessert, "Jazz under the Stars" and the "Hollywood Bowl" concert
Please consider joining the Friends of the Arts with a financial commitment, or volunteering to support our gifted students during their various activities.
